The New Palestine Junior High Robotics Team is a Vex IQ sponsored program. Half of our available teams are geared specifically for female students. Check out our STEM robotics program on the largest STEM resource The Connectory website. Students in grades 7-8 will begin to expand their interest in engineering and STEM skills. Through the work with the robotics team, our students will be exposed to basic engineering principles and will align with the Indiana state science and engineering process standards. Students will work with a trained coach to design a robot to meet the real-world challenge and compete in the VEX IQ tournaments. Further, students will work with the New Palestine High School VEX Robotics Team. High School students will collaborate with our robotics program to teach and mentor students so that a genuine interest will be developed. Our robotics teams will also present and encourage elementary students from our local Hancock County schools to get involved in robotics and coding.
Our school sponsors a maximum of 4 teams. During the 2015-2016 season we had two teams qualify for the State Championships. Our teams were ranked in the top 20 in the state for driving skills and programming. To learn more about VEX robotics and this year’s competition game check out the VEX IQ website
